I also have a suggestion for parents, who have kids of 5-10 years old. It is an educational iPhone app Kinder Hangman - http://sharkfuel.com/kinderhangman.html that is an interesting iPhone game and very useful for development of kids. It allows children to learn new words easily, effectively and quickly. Learning process is organized as an interesting game with graphical themes and animations. It is a good game that kids usually like very much. So, parents can use it to keep kids busy.

agility3d - thanks for letting me know. I think my web service provider tightened security to keep down hacking attempts. The calculator has been moved to a different directory to get around this.

This is a complicated issue, as people who have a high degree of numerical reasoning may struggle during a test if nerves affect their skills, while many are so practiced in using a calculator that they may have forgotten the basics of mental arithmetic.

We use a Nomad geocaching notebook that is waterproof and also serves as diary. It's bit annoying sometimes when GPS somewhat malfunctions or not responding well on tree covered areas, so the old compass and maps still counts. In this situation, the notebook is a good personal record of waypoints/coordinates, how long has the cache in distance. name of cache, personal cache number, trade items, unique things about cache, etc.

It also serves as an instant record in updating caches on-line and leaves us with a running diary of our caching experience. It does, however, make for one more thing to carry in the pack along with GPSr, palm, camera, etc but it's worth to have a paper trail during the entire geocaching.

I do a bit of both when I cache. I am a planner, so I have a sheet I use where I'll put a list together, in order, of caches to do. It saves time. At the same time, with things like smart phones and paperless caching, I don't have to always print out the pages for hints etc. And if we know there are some park and grabs, we can get them then, too. I find a good mixture of things makes it good, but each person does it different. It does get crazy with the GPS sometimes.
